Amanda Duchek

My name is Amanda and I currently work with the Hardwood Manufacturers Association (HMA) in Pittsburgh, PA. My position allows me to use my public relations and people skills on a daily basis. I work with the HMA members by providing valuable industry information and membership updates and I assist with creating awareness about the positive impact of American made Hardwood products. My knowledge of public relations derives from my education at Duquesne University as a double major in Public Relations and Journalism. My passion for public relations is based on my excitement of helping people and organizations reach their goals. I discovered this after interning with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society where I had the opportunity to raise awareness and donations about blood diseases in the Pittsburgh area through their annual Light the Night Walk in 2012. Besides focusing solely on PR work, I also enjoy writing short stories, poems, and advertising scripts. During 2014, I wrote, directed, hosted, and edited a movie, video game, and music review program, “Previews & Reviews”, with Clare Mulholland and Sarah Wheeler. It was a 7 episode show that was broadcasted on Duquesne’s campus and on YouTube. I plan to continue using my skills and knowledge in helping others.
